Top Energy Efficient Tips for Renters

If you are looking to improve the energy efficiency of your home but at the time you are renting, the Energy Star website has a list of the top ten tips for renters.

Lighting is at the top of the list and they estimate you can save more than $65 a year by switching your most commonly used lights.  Check out my article on lighting here

Turning off appliances when they are not in use is also on the list and a great way to be sure appliances are off is to use a plug strip.

If your home has central Heating and/or Air Conditioning make sure you don’t block the registers/vents with furniture.  Blocking these vents will not allow your system to run efficiently and will cause you to be uncomfortable.
