Signs You Need Attic Insulation
Don’t be the part of the 90% of homes in the U.S. that are under-insulated. Here are some signs that you could be part of this sweeping majority:
- High energy bills
- Home heats up quickly when A/C is off
- Uncomfortable areas of your home
- Air drafts in your home
Cellulose vs. Fiberglass Blown-In Insulation: What’s the Difference?
When it comes to choosing the right insulation for your California attic and walls with our insulation experts, we recommend picking from two insulation materials: cellulose and fiberglass:
Fiberglass Blown-In Insulation
Fiberglass is one of the most commonly recognized insulation materials, primarily because it has been used for decades in batt-form. Though it can come in many colors, you may remember fiberglass for its pink fluffy appearance. Instead of using fiberglass batt insulation, our technicians use a truck-mounted insulation machine with a hose attached to blow in fiberglass, for more complete coverage. Fiberglass is a cost effective solution with a high R-value.
Cellulose Blown-In Insulation
We install cellulose insulation the same way we install fiberglass, but we recommend cellulose for environmentally and health conscious homeowners. Cellulose is composed of recycled paper, and is considered safer that fiberglass if inhaled or ingested. But in addition to being a safer, environmentally friendly building material, it can also help to soundproof your home by providing impressive sound dampening!
The Balanced Comfort Process
The first step is to set up an energy audit. Once your home is tested for efficiency we can determine if your home needs insulation removal and an air sealed attic. Insulation removal and air sealing will set your new insulation installation up for lasting success. In attics we use Owens Corning PROPINK® L77 to blow-in premium fiberglass attic insulation. Attic insulation services come with one free top-off within the next five years (with service agreement) after your insulation has settled a bit.
